Happy Birthday to my MOTHER!

Today is her 63rd birthday and still going strong! This past Saturday we celebrated my mother's birthday at my sister's (Miranda) new home. I made her favorite, pork chops with rice and homemade beans. There were Mariachis, and her sister made it as well. I was so excited to see that my mother was truly surprised this time and then to see the look on my aunt Ramona's face and her eyes wide open. This is the aunt who has Parkinson's and her eyes are usually shut due to parkinson's. What a awesome moment to see her like that and clapping and having a good time.

Afterwards, when everyone left except me and my sisters and significants others, we went bowling and teamed up as couples. Well, me and Alonzo won all rounds we played. Joanna, Vica, Sabrina, Nathalie played teams too and they all got strikes. WOOHOO.

Happy Birthday MOMMA and hoping you have many more. Just dont' get spoiled with the Mariachis, you'll never know when I'll bring them.

New Homeowner

Well congrats to my lil' sister, Miranda, she is now an official homeowner. I'm so proud of her and wish her the best of luck in the coming years. She knows that I'm right by her side if ever she needs anything. The lenders tried to dampen her spirits but in the end she gave them hell at the closing and kept her stand. Glad to see something rubbed off on her. :)

Congratulations!!

Baby Phoenix

This is from the Baby Shower I gave my future daughter-in-law and Gabriel. This is from left to right: George, Diane, Jane, Gabriel, Vica, Belinda. We had so much fun and they received so many gifts. It will help them get started and be prepared for when the baby arrives.

Thanks everyone!!!

Have Faith

Every once in a while I am faced with 'tests' and I know that my Lord is trying to talk to me and keep telling me that I am a strong person. I know that my faith in Him is what keeps me going. I also know that many people are weaker than some and feel like they just can't do it without someone's help other than the Lord's or they just refuse to believe in Him.

Believe me there were times that it seemed easier to just turn to crime and take the easy road and risk getting locked up just to try and make it in this world. I have faced all types of sins as we all do but being a single mom and sometimes not knowing if you're going to be able to make it to your next paycheck or if you're baby gets sick if you're going to be able to take them to the doctor, there were times that it just seemed easier to go down the wrong path.

When I left my husband i truly believe that if it hadn't been for his last words to me "You'll never make it without me" I probably would have given up a long time ago. I was determined to show him that I could and would make it without him. But those words stuck with me all these years. I'm not the perfect mom but I know that my kids were not going to be without. I've had my ups and downs and I've had 10 times more downs then up, but I kept my faith in Him. I can not give enough thanks to my Lord so I make sure that I complete a good deed day in day out. That's the only way I know to repay all He has done for me and mine.

The reason i share this is because I received a call this morning from a long time friend of mine from the internet, her daughter (20 yrs old) became a single mom about 3 years ago, she refused to be abused as I did and about a year ago the daughter had somewhat of a breakdown from the effects of being a single mom with no support, her mother is on disability so very limited help there. Well, the daughter decided to turn to crime, drugs, alcohol. She was found dead this morning from an overdose.

If you know of any single mom or dad, just show them that you are there even if it's just an ear for them to vent, or to help them keep that faith. Reassure them that they are not alone in this world.

ROAD TRIP!!

I'm so excited we leave tomorrow for a weekend trip to New Braunfels then back to San Marcos. Me, Vica, Ashely (one of Vica's best friends), and Patty (Ashley's mom).

First, we're headed over to Texas Natural Bridge Caverns, where we'll go 180 feet below ground to see some of the most beautiful natural formations. That will take us about 3 - 4 hours to see and enjoy.

Second, we head over to San Marcos and enjoy a Glass Bottom boat tour at the Aquarena. The tour will takes about 30 minutes and we will see Bluegill Sunfish, Channel Catfish, Soft Shell turtles. Then visit the Aquarium.

Third, on Sunday we'll visit Wonder World Park. Where we'll visit another cavern where we'll go 400 ft below ground. We'll see the nation’s only true example of an EARTHQUAKE-FORMED CAVE. We will stand between the Edwards Plateau and the Gulf Coastal Plains, viewing a phenomenon of detachment where the earth’s surface was shaped around 30 million years ago. From the bottom of Wonder Cave we will exit Wonder World Cave by the “Stratavator”, from the bottom of the cave. The shaft was created for the exiting of the cave and for the viewing of the many geological strata formations. We are going to travel 190 feet upwards into the Observation Museum in the Sky to see views of the dramatic shifting during the Earthquake and the formation of the Balcones Fault Line Cave. This tour will take approx 4 hours as well.

I know that we are going to have so much fun. I'll post pictures when I get back. :)

Witnessed.....

So I'm driving down 635/LBJ Westbound and as I'm passing over Josey Lane, I noticed lights from an emergency crew. I also noticed several vehicles slowing down and moving to the left. As I look in my rearview mirror to see how traffic is behind me so that I can change lanes as well, I see this small white car coming at a high rate of speed. First he's in my lane coming up behind me then the moves suddenly to the left lane then back into my lane in front of me and then again to the left and realizes people are braking and tries to move right again and loses control on a rain slick road and BAM! smack in the back of the fire engine who was at the scene of the prior accident.

This guy swerved, made at least 1 full spin and hit the back of the fire engine headon AND I see this fireman jump out of the way. If he hadn't of jumped he would have been under the car I'm sure. I'm thinking to myself...........OMG there is no way this guy can be alive. Well, I did the right thing by pulling over and talking to the police about me witnessing the whole incident and this guy from this little car gets off his vehicle like nothing. No scratches, no bloody forehead, NOTHING! GOD was holding him. The car well.......let's just say you couldn't tell it had an engine or where the engine should have been for that matter.

Hmmmm

Well, the Zoo job I had was thru a temp service who is officed out of the building I work in full-time. They had waaaay too many people for the position, standing around helping customers feed the Stingrays remember? So they released a handful of us. Now the temp service, who I am on very good terms with the head manager :), is going to just let me do various jobs as needed. Tuesday, I get to go help with Elections! Woohoo! I like this seeing as I get to do different things from time to time.

Vica, is going to volunteer at a Jamboree Outreach tomorrow with her Big Sister, Alison. She is really excited about doing that. Alison signed them up for the Art section I believe.

Everyone have a great weekend!!!
